Name: Jesse Age: Very old. Well over 18. Contact: PM Timezone: Central Other Character(s): None |
Name: Castiel Door: Right Canon: Supernatural Canon Point: 5x04 (After being torn apart by Croats) Age: Castiel is an angel of the Lord and it's difficult to determine when God created him. He's been around since the first fish came from the ocean. Probably longer. Jimmy Novak (his vessel) appears to be in his early to mid thirties. Appearance: Hippie stoner angel History: Endverse Castiel. Castiel Overall. History wise the second link really shouldn't be acknowledged past season five since he's taken from 5x04 which is set five years in the future if Sam says yes to Lucifer. Personality: His personality before Lucifer took control of Sam wasn't anywhere close to this. Castiel has been described as having too much heart. This comes into play in the human decisions he can make and the emotions. He feels obvious remorse and confusion when he's asked to kill Anna with Uriel after she reappears. He doesn't feel comfortable killing one of his own and doesn't see the point really. He expresses a number of doubts about his leadership to Dean after the Samhain incident. It's clear that the human world is having a huge impact on Castiel. He started out quite bold and commanding. At first glance he appears to be "just another dick with wings", but that's not the case. He's got a heart that not even his superiors are aware of. Castiel is unique in that he's questioning Heaven's decisions on a daily basis. This behavior does get him into quite a bit of trouble in Season 4. He tries to release privy information about Heaven's plans only to be stopped forcefully with "angel fine tuning" which can only be assumed is brainwashing on a larger scale. Any remorse and human emotions Castiel showed to Dean were erased for blind loyalty and anger. Cas' resolve and impulsive nature come into place when Dean is sort of taken into angel custody. Things are heating up with Sam and the final seal to free Lucifer. Castiel makes a bold play and releases his friend and whisks him away. He sends Dean off and decides to go toe to toe with the Archangel Raphael to buy them some time. This ultimately costs Castiel his life. Once again proving that his loyalty to Dean Winchester goes bone deep. It seems that it's ingrained into his very soul. His rebellious and conflicting feelings towards his family come into play when Zachariah has the boys pinned so to speak. Castiel (newly resurrected) makes a play to save them. He once again puts his life on the line for the Winchester's to show his loyalty. This is his first move against Heaven. Rebelling sets Castiel down this path. Standing by the Winchester's is what caused this pain and suffering. His official downward spiral emotionally and physically. Castiel has lost himself a bit. A bit is probably an understatement to be honest. It's been a long hard road for Castiel. Five years that have not really measured up to what he thought would happen. Before everything happened Castiel was naive and perhaps a bit ignorant. If there is one thing that can make Castiel abandon all logic it's the Winchester's. He constantly puts his neck on the chopping block around his superiors for Dean and Sam Winchester. This is seen when dealing with Anna Milton. The Winchester's ally themselves with the fallen angel, but once she's run off it's Uriel who wants to kill Dean for standing in their way. Castiel stands between him and his goal putting another nail in his proverbial coffin of defiance and naive human decisions. Another is seen when the boys must stop the resurrection of Samhain and Castiel is sent with Uriel to give Dean a test. They are to follow Dean's orders, but they lie and tell him they're going to destroy the town. The boys refuse to let this happen and Castiel agrees to stand down. If Dean had been thinking smart and about the long run he might have let the angels just destroy the town, but he chose the big save. Castiel was relieved when Dean chose that. Smiting a whole town (while smart) would have sat heavily on his conscious. Once again proving that Castiel seems a bit naive in long run decisions. He chooses the human reaction almost always. Throughout all the pain and bloodshed he truly believed that things could be fixed. He truly believed the Winchester's could continue to run from their responsibility. He was content to help them hold onto their free will and ride shotgun right into a global catastrophe. He had hoped that they would hold out a little longer, but Sam gave up first. That broke Castiel's heart and his naive nature blew right out the window. That big heart that got him into so much trouble before hardened a little more. Cas' second steps towards being human came from losing Sam. It was true that he favored Dean a little more than the younger Winchester, but that didn't mean he hated him. These events shaped Castiel in more ways than one. He lost everything that made him Cas and gained a new cynical attitude on how the world operated. Because of this lose came a crisis of faith. Dean's outlook on the situation hardened and Castiel no longer had the Winchester's to anchor himself to. He examined the world going to Hell quite literally and there was no other choice. Still he fought it as much as he could. He held on as long as he could until he started to realize his family was abandoning the world. They were pulling out. Fighting a losing battle no longer became appealing and his grace started to fade. He was slowly being exiled from his family and that left a hole in Castiel. A hole he was determined to fill with booze, prescription drugs and any woman that was willing to crawl into bed with him. It was a slow decent at first. His comments became less and less helpful and eventually tapered off into sarcasm laced with bitterness. Castiel eventually learned to hide that bitterness underneath a mountain of substances that now were able to have a substantial effect on his vessel without his grace. What some people commonly confuse for apathy and drunken behavior is just Cas' only way of trying to cope with what's happened to him. It's not easy to go from being a celestial being with so much power to hopeless in a matter of months. It's safe to say that Castiel is lost, but with the world ending where he's from he sees no reason to change. When he comes out of his haze the world is still going to be going to shit and Dean Winchester will still be emotionally floating on an island by himself. Castiel's gone from naive and big hearted to a bitter and cynical drug addict. He's going to watch the world end from his bed with women draped over him or by Dean's side despite the fact that his best friend is no longer the same man he knew. There is one thing that has no changed though. Castiel is loyal. He will still follow Dean to the ends of the Earth and lay down on a grenade for his friend. It doesn't matter that he's human and vulnerable, but he's still loyal to the people in his life. That includes Chuck and the other members of the camp. Castiel may be lacking in a number of places, but his loyalty to Dean Winchester and his cause has never once faded. He's never once felt a desire to abandon this cause or go with his family. Dean Winchester and these people are the most important thing to him. Despite his rapid personality shift he still has not quite caught onto the lingo that's appropriate. He still uses lingo that's a few years out of date. He doesn't really care though. Once upon a time he wouldn't have even tried to blend, but he does make an effort. Yet if he gets it wrong he doesn't try to course correct. Since turning human most of his mannerisms come from Dean. The way he speaks to women is similar, but he throws in more touchy feely aspects to appear sensitive. He often gives speeches about energy before he commences orgies. These are almost always bullshit phrases he's strung together to make all parties feel safe and comfortable. They honestly have no real place. He could care less if he's lying to these women. His last days on this Earth are gonna be fun. Some would call what Castiel fell into a sort of depression with being rendered powerless and watching so many people fall around him. As an angel he has always felt an overwhelming desire to protect the human race. It was the angel's task to keep them safe. Not being able to stop Lucifer put a weight around Castiel's neck and he was content to let it hang there. Powers and Abilities: Castiel's angelic abilities have sort of drained away since his family left. He became mortal in a way. The things he's still able to do are sort of limited. The only real power of note that's still with him is he can sense when a person comes from a different timeline than his own. This is seen in 5x04 when he's able to detect the aura difference in future!Dean and past!Dean. Aura reading is still on the table for him and he often uses it to get women into bed. Castiel possesses his eidetic memory since it was never mystical in nature. This goes for his fighting capabilities (he's still a pretty bamf swordsman if you give him an angel blade). He still knows a great deal about spell casting and torture. Most of his heavy duty powers faded when his grace did. He's good with firearms these days thanks to Dean teaching him once Sam gave himself to Lucifer. He's decent in hand to hand combat, but he's not exactly a ninja.
